She's haughty, she's overly confident, she's snooty, she's arrogant. She is Florence - the unrivalled queen of Tuscany. The queues before her magnificent museums are a test of patience, her well-crafted goods overpriced, and her wards - well, some of them - plain arrogant just like her. Even the polluted Arno that cuts through her heart is praised - undeservedly - for its beauty!
But despite her arrogant bearing, she retains a dignified, noble air. Her streets are lined with grand historical palazzi, her piazze with priceless works of art, her Duomo, magnificent (externally, but sadly, plain inside), her tables laden with sumptuous cuisine and delightful wines, and her history, with human destiny-changing events like the Renaissance. Philosophers, poets, artists and designers had walked her streets, their works still having profound effects oh humanity just as they had ages ago. Possessing all these, one ceases to wonder why she is that arrogant, haughty noblewoman that is she.
This is Florence. And the miserable truth is, I love her! |

Sta Croce and the museo look divine as do all the other parts you've visited. Haha, I do coin throwing everywhere and it works :-) |
