Everytime I've been to France there has been a strike of some sort. First time the truck drivers were on strike, the next time, the service workers...a friend joked about this at a cafe to which a local responded "there is a strike in France on any given day, you just have to try to work around it". Just make sure to take any strike, or potential strike into consideration (mostly if the airport workers go on strike and you miss your plane!). When the service workers were on strike in Paris in the summer of 2003, it was annoying, but not then end of the world. So things were a bit slower then usual, I could think of worse things happening (like giant rocks falling on your head!).

Well, yeah, so the area around the Moulin Rouge has a lot of strip clubs and such things. So when you pass by them at 10pm and you're drunk out of your skull - yeah, someone might try to get you into their club. It's sorta like an IQ test "I am drunk, and in a part of town reknown for screwing foreigners out of their cash - what do I do?" Use common sense people - just like when you go to a joint back home. Use your head....not that one. The one with the brain in it.

aussiedoug Sun May 9, 2004 02:48 UTC Some gr8 tips here so it's a shame there are no photos yet to go with them. Did you have a camera or not? I must have been lucky in Oct 03 with no strikes at all in a 2 week stay. Loved the place! | rexvaughan Sun May 9, 2004 02:38 UTC I think Paris wore you out - you rested by the Tuileries, Notre Dame and the Seine. Just kidding although one does a lot of walking seeing the beauty of this great place. Good tips. Thanks. |
