We were luckey to meet a student who was very eager to show us the more authentic part of Cairo, the part not included in the travel guides. No charges! Anyway, no one demanded tips from us, as they would in Luxor and Aswan.
We did experience that salesmen trying to make a deal with commission to our egyptian friend, if he could make us buy. Which he rejected.
It was poor, humble and dusty. But truely real.
Somehow I ended up really likeing this place eventhough the traffic and noise was greater than no other place I ve been to.
It s dirty and messy, but still it has some strange kind of charm. You can tell that the locals know how to relax themselves and have a good time.
It only takes a chair, sheesha and some company.
