Where Moses once tread

by stamporama - last update: Nov 3, 2007

Atop Mt. Nebo

Mt. Nebo Catholic church
This is purportedly the place where Moses died and was buried, although there's no actual tomb that states "here lies...".

The church is ran by the Catholic Franciscan order. It was one of the last places visited by Pope John Paul II before he died.
The Moses memorial stone
The place is very windy with desert dust blowing as well so when you go there bring something to protect your eyes and cover your nose. No wonder people here wear the kaffiyah or the veil...they need to protect themselves from the sun and dust storms.
From this mount, God showed Moses the Promised Land and the photo here is what he likely saw: an expanse of aridity and desolation.
Does not look promising, does it?
