Inverness is known as the gateway to the Highlands. It is a convenient place to start any tour of Northern Scotland and is the perfect city from which to base shorter jaunts in and around the area.
Some will visit Inverness only as a stopover on the way to seeking Loch Ness. Make sure to plan it the other way round. Your priority should be to stay in Inverness and not spend much time trying to get to Loch Ness. Inverness is actually located right on the River Ness, so that should be enough for all you "monster" seekers. |
I'm Tired and Need to Sheep It won't take you long to realise that Inverness is surronded by incredible natural scenery, and you will sound find yourself walking along the River Ness and beyond. Eventually, you will venture as far as the Isle of Skye on a day-trip, where your mind will be blown away with some of the most serene sights in the world.
The Inverness Tourist Office is a must. As is Blackfriars. Try a haunted walk at night. |
