Balchik is a cute little town by the seaside. In the summer is a great attraction for tourist especially the ones staying in the nearby resort Albena.
But still, it's worth taking a walk on it's cobblestone streets downtown all the way up to it's main church from where a beautiful panoramic view is revealed.
Then after all the efforts spend climbing up the hill u can head down towards the beach, walk along the alley south towards the Quenn's Maria Palace (Dvoreca). It was build as a summer residence, so it's not palace actually.But don't get disapointed because the real gem is the beatiful gardens and waterfalls and ornamental pools. The thing i'm most proud of is the botanical garden at Dvoreca; it belongs to the Biology department, Sofia University! Not only beautiful species, but very valuable (like Ginko biloba...real paleontological treasure..ask the botanist for more info...hehehe).
I just love that place!
