Donde deje mi corazon

The Roofs of Valencia
Ive lived in Spain twice,,Valencia in '74 as an undergrad and Madrid in '77-'78 while in grad school. I have to say, Madrid is one of the coolest, most cosmopolitan cities Ive ever been in. When I went back in 2001, I couldnt believe how sophisticated and hip it had become. Chueca, the gay area of the city, is the hottest, hippest area now. The best restaurants, stores and clubs can be found in this part of the city. Since Im a shopper, I found the most unique and interesting fashion and house items here.. like my apron with Norman Bates' mother in sillouette on the front,, or the handbag shaped like a three dimensional cube.
Cuanto es???

Mercado Central

Every time we went to the center of the city we had to visit the Mercado Central, or Central Market, where Valencianos bought their daily produce, meat, fish and fruits. Almost all cities, towns and villages in Spain have central markets where various vendors sell their daily wares. This one was particularly interesting as it dated back to the 15th or 16th century and was located near the cathedral.

These pictures are from the 70's but I dont think much has changed since then.

Chicken, chicken everywhere
