Balatonalmádi is a resort with picture postcard beauty located on the northeast corner of Lake Balaton. The town’s seven-kilometre-long coastline is surrounded by various ranges of hills and slopes; these offer the town a unique, amphitheatre-like geographical location. The town developed by first merging with another village in 1952; and then merging again with two more villages in 1971.

The coat of arms is a shield divided vertically, in the left blue field there are four narrow silver wavy bends, symbolising Lake Balaton. The right red field symbolises Vörösberény, now part of Balatonalmádi, while the single-towered silver church with a tower window and surrounded by a wall with a gate on the top of a green hill, represents Vörösberény's renowned historical monument. The coat of arms was adopted by Decree in 1987 by the local council.
