Gyõr, the city of three rivers (called Arrabona at Roman times) is the most important city in Northwest-Hungary, the capital of Gyõr-Moson-Sopron County. Gyõr is on one of the main roads through Central Europe and is situated halfway between Budapest and Vienna. The city is the sixth largest in Hungary and claims to be the second richest in historic buildings outside of Budapest.

The coat-of-arms is halved and to the left on a blue background is the first martyr St Stephen, the top right half shows a fortified town in silver against a blue background whilst the bottom right is a red background with three wavy lines representing the rivers Danube, Rába and Rábca. Above the arms is a five-pointed open crown adorned by gems, symbolising the free royal borough and the whole arms are supported by palm leaves.

    since a couple of years I didn`t visit Győr, wich is a pitz. I like this charming cicty pretty much. really nice pictures, but maybe some more tips would be wellcome >;-)
