"Cambridge" Cambridge by grayfo

Cambridge a city since 1951 is situated on the banks of the River Cam, just to the east of England and amid the rural countryside of Cambridgeshire. Cambridge is not a large place, but has all the amenities of a University City. The River Cam, the Bridge of Sighs, the "backs" and the architecture of the University buildings all combine to make Cambridge an unforgettable place.

The coat of arms consists of a golden arched bridge with three towers over a river of three black ships; above the central tower is a fleur-de-lis between two silver roses on a red background. The supporters are two sea horses with their upper bodies in red. The knight's helmet indicates a municipality and atop it a bridge in the form of a castle with two Ports and three domed Towers. The arms were granted in 1575 with slight changes in 1974.

Cambridge is twinned with two similar cities, they both have universities with similar size populations; Heidelberg in Germany since 1965 and Szeged in Hungary since 1987.
