Lux WHAT? Honestly, if you don't know Luxembourg, you should be ashamed of yourself. Whatever it lacks in size, it makes up in Cultural, Economical and Political importance. |

A little about the modern history... Luxembourg is located in a historically industrial region which is known for metalurgy. Precisely this has given Luxembourg a leading role in the creation of the European Coal and Steel Community (ECSC), the father of the current European Union. Consequetively, Luxembourg now plays a leading role in European Union politics as well as hosting major EU institutions such as the European (EU) Investment Bank, EU Court of Auditors, EU Court of Justice and others. Since the decline of metalurgy in Western Europe, Luxembourg's economy has diversified, with great success, into high-tech industries and above all financial services, making it one of the richest county (per capita) in the world. |
