The city of Saskatoon is named for the saskatoon berries that grow wild in the region. The saskatoon berry is similar to, but a little more fibrous than a blueberry. |
| | The population in Saskatoon is about 230,000. The South Saskatchewan River goes through the city and seven bridges link the city across the river. The main bridges at downtown are Broadway Bridge and University Bridge. The Bessberough Hotel is located between these two bridges. As I know, many of the inhabitants are of Ukrainian descent. There are 2 Ukrainian Museums in the city. My favorite place during the summer is the Berry Barn, located 10 km south of Saskatoon. Most of the restaurants and coffee shops that I like are located on 8th St. E. Some of them are: Broadway Roastery, Traeger's, Poverino's, Nano's, The Keg, Red Lobster, Montana's |
