I took the 40 min train ride from Copenhagen to Roskilde to check out the Viking Ship Museum as well as the Roskilde Cathedral where all the Danish Kings and Queens are buried. I took the bus from the Roskilde train station to the museum but you can walk it, as it wan't far. The museum has lots of interesting information, video, exibits, and artifacts detailing the background of the vikings as well as information specific to the five viking ships discovered in the 1960's in the Roskilde fjord. Outside the museum is a traditional shipyard where ship builders and craftsmen are building replica viking ships. You can arrange to sail in one of them if you are there in the summer. |
