Chiang Mai is Thailand's second largest city and located in the northwest area of Thailand.
We first went in 2000 and stayed for 3 nights.
If you've never been, I would strongly recommend visiting just to see it for yourself. Stay at least 2 nights but I wouldn't do more than 3 or you might get bored.
Many people use it as a staging area for trips further north or across the border into Myanmar.
If you like to shop, it's a good place to visit. There are many factories around the area giving tours and selling thier wares such as silk, lacquer, ceramics, teakwood, jade, gems, etc.
The picture above is a common sight around the city. Little vendors selling soda in a bag with crushed ice. SO refreshing! |
