88 wonderful canals.... | Singelgracht Near Leidseplein |
... that's the English translation for the above throat-breaking phrase. If you are visiting Northern Europe and have to choose between one of the harbour metropoles, do visit this one. Visiting all of them, you would find familiarities with Hamburg, Copenhagen and Stockholm. Each of these is very nice and certainly a great destination, but not really a match for Amsterdam. I feel blessed living only a 2 1/2 hours drive away and I certainly shall be back. |

| Pros: | "atmospheric, lively, metropolis feel, yet still compact enough to walk around" | | Cons: | "difficult driving in the inner city, reckless cyclists, rude taxi drivers, wheelchair access not really good" | | In A Nutshell: | "As I will visit Venice later this year, I doubt I'll like it better than Amsterdam" |

pieter_jan_v Wed Sep 24, 2008 17:30 UTC Arnhem and surroundings is nice. I think Burger's Zoo is partly indoors; ideal when the weather is bad. My weekends are pretty much booked till the end of the year. PJ | Nemorino Sun Jul 15, 2007 16:16 UTC Glad you enjoyed your NL weekend.
