"Aultbea in Scenic Wester Ross" Aultbea by RhineRoll

Aultbea Travel Guide: 1 reviews and 0 photos

Aultbea is a small farming village on the shores of Loch Ewe. Many of the houses, like our holiday cottage, enjoy wonderful views of the loch and the Torridon mountains.

Loch Ewe has quite a lively history. In World War II it was a busy military installation, as the supply convoys for Russia were assembled in this north-facing loch. Today, a couple of nissen huts remain -- and a small NATO submarine service station. Inverewe gardens is a quick 5-mile drive from Aultbea.

Aultbea has a small grocery shop, an excellent butcher also selling groceries and two hotels
