My first time in the UK We were flying with Ryan Air to Stansted Airport on August the 25th. The city we were going to stay in Braintree, not that far from London, but there were no plans on a visit to London this time, we simply wouldnt get the time.
We had chosen not to take a Taxi from the airport to the hotel, this might had been easier, but alot more expensive, so we found a bus to Braintree, only 3 £, so cheap compared to Denmark! I would have expected it to be at least the same, but no, first pleasent surprise.
When we finally reached Braintree, I must admit that I was happy that we were still alive, it turned out that the busdriver probably never had been behind a wheel before! That was one exciting ride! lol later we found out that it's normal to drive like crazy there :-S Phew when we had to cross the street I am used to that I have to look to the left, cos that's where the cars comes from in DK, but I never thought it could be that confusing to look to the right instead, it's very confusing, and we were to girls doing the same mistake everytime, no comments on that plz :p we should have learned it the first time we almost got run over by a car.
Anyway we arrived at the hotel safe and sound. I had booked 3 nights at the Premier Travel Inn, cos I knew some of my friends from Belgium would be staying there too. Nice hotel for the price, no disappointment there, other than they didnt even understand english in the reception, that was quite funny.
The whole weekend went on with the show, participaters from the Middle East and around Europe. Princess Alia of Jordan, Sheikh Ammar (Crown Prince of Ajman, UAE) and Prince Khalid from Saudi Arabia was there, the two last both arrived in their own private plans (big ones!) in Stansted Airport. My friend and I didnt miss a chance to speak very loudly about who these guys were and that we actually knew them, no need to say that we got a few looks from people around us haha
Well the show was great, lovely horses as usual. Nice people around, and great atmospher.
We spend 4 days in the UK, and it almost didnt rain, I must admit that I was kind of amazed! I would have expected it to rain constantly! That's what you always hear. But no, it did rain a bit, but just for like 5 min a day, must be the global warming... |
