  • Al Shahania Farm is one of the most progressive and successful Arabian breeding and racing establishments in the world. It is like a green Oasis in the middle of the desert. The whole stud is just beautiful, and really worth a trip even though you are not really in to horses.
The stud is owned by HH Sheikh Mohammed Bin Khalifa Al Thani.

  • The desert Safari was one of the funniest things I did when I was in Qatar. Driving up and down the BIG sand dunes with a crazy driver, who likes to fly lol Believe me, it is better than a rollercoaster ride, if you get a good driver... :) And you get to see the Inland sea, maybe camels, and just get to drive around the desert... remember to enjoy every minute of it, cos the desert in Qatar is amazing!!

See Johara Al Naif who was "World Champion filly 02" in Paris! This charming lady is the Juvel of Al Naif! You will fall in love with the arabian horse!

  • This is the Arabian horse farm over any arabian horse farm in the world!!!
The stud is owned by Sheikh Abdul Aziz Bin Khaled Al Thani, and managed by the world known trainer and handler Bart Van Buggenhout from Belgium.

You wont find Arabians of higher quality anywhere else, and you should not miss the opportunity to go here, if you have the smallest interest in horses! Bart will be happy to show you the farm and the horses.

  • The most charming market in Qatar, Souq Waqif has recently undergone a major renovation and has been tranformed into an old looking marketplace with smalls shops that sells anything from spices to falcons... It's definatly a 'must see'!

  • We spent a few hours driving around the race track watching the camels getting trained. It's kinda cool to see these big lazy-looking animals run with great speed...
All around the racetrack there are a road for the cars, so it's possible to follow them around the whole track.

In the afternoon there are usually races...

I think Qatar is like Marmite, some love it, some hate it! Nice to see someone from the "love it" side.
