"Holiday Isle" Pulau Jerejak by anoum

We had no idea that the ferry to the island has a schedule so arrived at the jetty at the wrong time. The officer on duty was very helpful. When he found my name on the list of guests arriving, he radioed for a small boat to take us over (there was five of us). While waiting, we were served cold drinks.
We had made an early booking for our chalet (4 persons) through a hotel booking service (Grand Reception) and so got what we wanted. A guy who made late booking and got a 4-bedded room at Adventure Village (hotel) tried to persuade me to exchange our chalet for the room!
We were a little early and our chalet was not ready. We had to wait for half an hour. The front office employees were apologetic about it and three came up to apologise separately while we were waiting!
All chalets are on a hill slope (Spa Village) away from the heavier human traffic of the hotel and the main pool. When there, you feel like you are on your private island and it is beautifully quiet except for the birds and the insects. But occasionally the noise pollution from Penang island drifts over especially in the rush hour.
The look and feel of the Spa Village is that of a four star resort. The service is good overall.
The chalets are in Spa Village, so named because the spa facilities are located at the same place. When you stay at the chalets, you get to enjoy separate swimming pools although smaller and there is also a jacuzzi. The pools here are seldom used unlike those at the Adventure Village (hotel) downhill so I thoroughly enjoyed the solitude and privacy.
All the resort cars are doorless and it can be quite a thrill if you sit at the side of the back seat as the car whizzes down the slope.
You can call for a car to be sent to your chalet to pick you up when you want to go down to the resort lobby or for activities but my family and I chose to walk every time.
- Pros:Lots of greenery, good service, very friendly staff, near Penang.
- Cons:Needs to be more eco-friendly
- In a nutshell:Wonderful place for a quick getaway
