    Hello! Very interesting info in your "Local customs" reviews! And you are right about Butterworth being known as a transfer point, but most for the ferry to Penang I think. My wife is in Malaysia right now and we will go there in June next year as well. Regards Lars, Sweden.

    hihi! In second paragraph, I think u have a mistake. Actually is 9th day of chinese new year, we have celebration. We start to celebrate at 12am of 9th day of CNY.

      No, we can begin prayers once past 11.00 pm on the 8th day due to the Chinese traditional calculation of time segments. From 11.00 pm onwards, it is already considered the 9th day, which is the birthday. That is why Chinese schools take the 9th day off, to rest after the late night prayers on 8th day..

    Nice page on Butterworth. I enjoyed the beef noodles near Jalan Bengali. How true and sad about snatch thieve, one actually happen to a friend as we walking at Chai Leng Park. Fortunately, only the handbag strap broke.
