Islamabad is the Capital of Pakistan. It was once considered a dead city; meaning day time population 1 mio +, night time 100K.
Not anymore!
It is now one of the fastest growing, most expensive (real estate wise), and modern city of Pakistan. Majority of the MNC's (especially service & oil/gas) have opened up their offices in Islamabad. Islamabad is also the place from where all major travel plans to north/and other areas, by locals as well as foreigners, are prepared.
Although there are various museums, restaurants, parks, govt. buildings, etc. one can go and see, it is easy to assume that to enjoy Islamabad; one has to GO OFF THE BEATEN PATH.
My recent trip (June 2008) to the north got cancelled, and we ended up exploring the surroundings (Taxila, Khanpur, Salt Ranges, Galis). And my tips are presently built accordingly. I have really not focused on Islamabad right now (as I have done for Karachi), but slowly I will built this page.
For now enjoy some not so traveled “paths” from Islamabad!
