The Megacity | Buenos Aires, Alem Avenue |
Buenos Aires is the capitol city of the Argentine Republic. Only the Federal District has 3 millons inhabitants, meanwhile the suburban area has 8,5 millions. Of course you dont perceive the tenue borderline between the Fed District and the suburban area named the Gran Buenos Aires. In fact it is only one big city with more than 11 millions population. And like every megacities in the world the atmosphere and the spirit of the city is composed by the summatory of all the best things and the worst things that the human beings can do. In fact I dont like the big cities, and B.A. is one of them, but I should recognize that when I arrive to B.A. a strange fascination takes the control of my upper brain, meanwhile my primitive brain turns on the alarm red light. It doesnt matter how extravagants are your desires, if you have enough money you can get it in minutes. Cosmopolitan, with a charming european style, elegant, rich, the Federal District belongs to the First World, meanwhile the rest of the country is the example of a Third World country, struggling against the poverty and the underdeveloping forces. I guess VT is a place where we shares our travel experiences and I'll do it, but I think that a critical point of view has a place here too. Why a rich capitol city and a poor country? How is it posible? Itīs a long story, but today I should say to you that the main reason is because Buenos Aires manages the richness due to the economical concentration of the financial forces, even with a big influence over the political forces that decides about our present and our future. On the other side the rest of the country just produces the richness to feed the greed of this insatiable monster even at the risk of loose our natural resources. Then, big city, rich, eclectic, beautiful, sensual, charming, modern, with hectic days and shaked nights. A gigantic Sins Cornucopia. The attractive Make Up hiding the tortured reality. An exhaust body. |
Puerto Madero, paradigmatic neighbourhood Puerto Madero is one of the paradigmatic must see of B.A. The old docks beside the Rio de La Plata recycled in fantastic shopping areas, sophisticated restaurants and clubs, is the result of the last refreshing jobs of the B.A. face. In fact it is the result of a fabulous real estate business. But it is nice, no doubts. |
| Modern design at Puerto Madero |
| | Never is enough Never is enough in Puerto Madero, the long list of investments stills growing and growing, and the fecund imagination of the architects and artists finds an ideal environment here. Of course, sometimes I have the strong impression that somethings are a "deja vu", like a smaller copy of an idea from the antipodes. Dont you? Then again, itīs nice, no doubt. |
