If you are visiting for the first time and hail a cab from the airport, make sure you know EXACTLY where your hotel is located and how far it is from the airport. As well, don't tell the cabdriver that you are a newbie, or you may end up paying more than you bargained for.
Out of the 6 times I have been there,twice I have travelled from the airport and just asked a taxi driver to take me to my destination.I was taken for a ride...literally. Both times the cab driver took the long route and engaged my friend and I in conversation so we would not notice. The first time our hotel was located right behind the airport, and we were driven across the city and then right back to where we started from. SHE was very good at it, because we didn't even notice until the next day when we looked at the airport from our room...good by $20 American Dollars...plus a tip for the pleasantry...think I would have learned the second time...

At Least Do This: Get a map before you leave so you are aquainted with how far the hotel is.
Alternative: Get a package that has airport transfers.
