Two People,Two Families,Two Countries

Last year our son, Shawn, and his girlfriend, Irene, traveled to her home town in Linz, Austria. During an auto tour of Irene's beautiful homeland they saw a dramatic castle overlooking the town of Werfen. As they toured the castle, they both agreed that this was the place for their wedding. And so the adventure began..Two people, two families, two nations - one wonderful experience.

A Full Day of Wonder

As the wedding guests gathered they were entertained by the castle jugglers and the professional falconeers demonstrations of various European birds of prey. This was an exciting and informative adventure for all ages.

The wedding was held in the castle chapel accompanied by musical interludes of harp and violin. With Salzburg only a 25 minute drive away- the sweet "Sound of Music" filled the medevil santuary.

After the wedding, guests were greeted by the bride and groom in the open courtyard surrounded by the mountains. Coffee, strutel and a castle tour gave the wedding guests a feel for the rich history of the area. The wedding dinner was a culinary delight., thanks to the able talents of the chef and his staff. Family prayers and toasts were mingled with entertainment by the resident jugglers. The day was topped off by a night time fire eating/juggling preformance in the courtyard. As I write these words I still find it hard to believe that Irene and Shawn were blessed with such a perfect wedding day - It is a wedding day that will be long remembered by all ...

The castle and surrounding area was the location for the filming of "Where Eagles Dare". As you can tell from the photo - eagles do dare!

The beauty of the village and surrounding natural beauty is exceeded only by the kind good humor of the people of Werfen. "Morgen" or "Guten Tag" is the universal greeting as you make your way in and out the little shops, eating establishments and guesthouses. Children walk the streets in the secure arms of a loving community.
