Porto, at the end of the magnificent Douro Valley

Going to Porto

I visited Porto 5 times.....2 times because of a FC Porto-Ajax game.
Ajax was defeated two times,1-0 and 3-0. It was in the former Das Antas stadium. Porto has a magnificent setting along the dramaticly beautiful Douro. In all it is a bit less then Lisboa. But it has his own character. In summer there are enough possibilities to be a beach resort. City beaches nearbye, such as Castelo the Queesio and further down Espinho and some swimming pools in the city. I was impressed during the St. Joau festivities at 23 June when 100.000 s are on the street and are beating each other with real or plastic unions. Not much museums or other places of interest but the setting and atmosphere make Porto attractive for a few days.
Trainer with Barros, Mc. Carty and Derlei

FC Porto was in Zeist, july 2004

I am proud that the Champion League winner Porto had their trainings stage in Zeist. I visited a training. The KNVB training grounds are 6 km from here.
Some players such as Maniche and Deco where still on holiday after Euro 2004.
Me....

8 spectators and 40 journalists

Zeist, where i live, on a sunday morning 25 july 11.00 PM
What to do after my first coffee ?
Visit a training session of FC Oporto ! Much to see ?
No, but it was nice to see how important FC Porto is in Portugal. So many journalists !

when I was in Porto, I regretted a lot that I did not make a photo from the same spot as you did take the photo (Porto's Festa de SAo JoAo). Standing there and having this view of the old Porto is impressing.
