Restaurant Name: Meloi Taverna

This taverna is set at Meloi beach. Very welcoming and with excellent food and loose retsina. We NEVER eat lunch in Greece, yet we had lunch here nearly every day (even detouring here by foot from another beach!)

We also walked over one beatiful still, moonlit evening!

Favorite Dish: Everything is excellent -

Stuffed potatoes (NOT potato skins actual potatoes!)

Cabbages dolmades

Aubergines with tomato and feta (and I don't even LIKE aubergines!)

Fish in lemon sauce

Oven chicken.....

Directions: At Meloi stand facing the beach - the campsite is to your left behind you, the taverna is to your right - you can't miss it - it's the only one!!!

Restaurant Name: To Hiliomodhi

To Hiliomodi has a simple, reasonably priced mezes menu. Seating is either in the lane behind the building or on the smallish roof terrace (6-8 tables). Food is simple, but very tasty - mixed grilled fish, grilled prawns, gigantes. We went in Ocotber and it was packed with travellers and locals every night!

Restaurant Name: Ostria

The Ostria is right on the sea front and has a sort of terrace out front. My first impression was "expensive/tourist trap" - seafront, seafood....however it is EXTREMELY cheap and EXTREMELY good valu. The seafood platter for 2 - prawns, maridhes (whitebait), kalamari and taramaslata would have made a full meal had we not been abnormally hungry that night and was priced at 12 euros. There's a good selection of seafood (swordfish souvlaki and the like) and oven dishes (we had a delicious plate of braised liver to share). This quickly became our favourite place to eat in Skala, with the occasional foray to Hiliomodi for a change of scene.

Highly recommended

(Oh and inside is rather nice too!)
