Madrid was my first experience in Europe. I was blown away. The city seemed to be endless and so compact. Everything was a tighter fit in Madrid. Yet there were treasures around every bend...down every street...something to see and experience. A balanced mix of modern and historic. Wow.

The locals in Madrid (Madrilenos)love to have a good time. They drink and party till the wee hours of the morning. I met some people out and we talked about everything...or at least tried our best with their broken English and my limited espanol! However...the common bond is a good night out, lots of drinking...and a camera!

There's so many great places to eat, it's so hard to decide. Pick a place where you see lots of locals, and order away! If you can't eat pork, be careful. My Muslim friend accidentally had a minced ham in his "veggie" sandwich. I am lucky because I don't have any dietary restrictions...so I enjoyed most of the food.
