    This beautiful restaurant is in the new opera house, in the front right-hand corner of the building. The name 1894 is in honor of the fact that the original Erfurt opera house, now the Old Opera, was first opened in that year.

    I won't tell you who I had a glass of Prosecco with in this restaurant after the latest operetta, because that would be name-dropping and I have resolved not to do that so often any more. Suffice it to say she was really lovely and so is the restaurant, which stays open quite late, even after the rest of the opera house has been locked up for the night.

    • Who needs a restaurant when you can get a genuine Thüringer sausage hot off the grill at one of the open-air stands on the Domplatz just below the cathedral?

    This is the capital of Thüringen, after all, so you've got to try their sausages.

     Icredible, this inhabited bridge. I knew it was common in the past, but I am surprized to see there is still one in Germany. However the street looks cute, I am not sure I would live to live in one of those houses.

     Most interesting reading - Erfurt was one of three cities we wanted to visit but just didn't have time, for its historic significance and ambience. Your ground level picture of the Gera is really good and I loved the roof pictures. N.    		LoriPori Tue Nov 20, 2007 12:12 UTC
     Lovely views of Erfurt from the top of the Church. I've never heard of an inhabited bridge before. And those Thuringer sausages sure look delicious. Also thanks for visiting my Durban pages.
