Land Hessen: Frankfurt Skyline Countdown

Skyscrapers in Hessen's largest city

Frankfurt Skyline Countdown
Since my Frankfurt am Main page was again starting to get rather large and unwieldy, I have moved the Frankfurt Skyline Countdown over here to my "Land Hessen" page.

So this is now the place where you can do a countdown of the twenty-two tallest buildings in the city of Frankfurt am Main. There is still one tip for each building -- except for # 4, which has five tips (with twenty-one photos) in order to build up suspense to a fever pitch before finally going on to the top three.

As long as the tips are in "Author's Order" you can simply scroll down to get to the next tallest building, except for two places where you have to click on a link to continue the countdown.
Friedrich Schiller (1759-1805)

The 22nd - 13th tallest buildings are shown on the "Off the Beaten Path" tips, and the 12th - 1st are on the "Things to Do" tips. To see the buildings in order, you can either click here to start the countdown, or just look at the Off the Beaten Path tips first.

Nine of the tips feature the dramatist, poet and historian Friedrich Schiller, even though he was not a big fan of 20th and 21st century architecture -- which is not surprising since he died in 1805.
City Tower in Offenbach am Main

By the way, there is one skyscraper in Land Hessen which is not in Frankfurt and is therefore not included in the countdown. That is the 120-meter City Tower in the adjoining city of Offenbach am Main. (Would be # 17 if it were in Frankfurt.)

Of course Land Hessen has a lot more to offer than just skyscrapers! For other aspects, please have a look at my Bad Hersfeld, Bad Homburg vor der Höhe, Bad Orb, Bad Vilbel, Darmstadt, Gießen, Kassel, Kassel, Steinau and Wiesbaden pages. And my Frankfurt am Main page, of course!

Yes, that was me, the skyscraper countdown is great! I am planning to visit the opera in Frankfurt when Victoria returns from Belarus (some time in Feb), when I plan it I'll get in touch!

You've done some interesting research, Don!

The building in Moscow is only a few metres taller, but including a spire of about 50 metres. I believe it's dishonestly to count it. Really excellent photos! Thank you for ratings and nice comments. Greetings Irina

Don, An intriquing look at Frankfurt, shows not only the newer buildings but some of the river and green areas from the view points.Enjoyed it very much. At least on some Schiller could be correct, looking the other way.
