"An odd little town" Yichuan by bhemak

There is no reason to come here really

This town of about 15,000 is about 15km south of Longmen grottoes, or 30km south of Luoyang. I lived in the town for one month as taught english here. At first I thought I was the first foreigner here. Later I met a Cameroonian who teaches at the local middle school. I'd get a few strange looks as still most people had never seen a foreigner. Some times people would seemingly sneak up and yell things to me in the local dialect (which I can't understand). It was fun to be so unique for a little while.

Pros and Cons
  • Pros:Innocent and interested people, totally untainted China
  • Cons:no real sites, hard for foreigners to get around
  • In a nutshell:Just a small town in China

If you received strange looks from the local Yichuan residents then imagine what reaction that Cameroonian guy got.
