Gordion; King Midas (700BC)
Gordion is located on the King road that runs between Lydia and Persia was the capital of Phrigians who lived in the central plains of Anatolia. Their famous King Midas fought Assyriens in the south. According to legend King Midas turned to gold everything he touched.
Gordion, on the other hand is famous for the enigmatic Gordion Knot. It was believed that whoever untied the knot would gain the key to Antolia which was under attack from different Empires. Many tried to untie the knot but all efforts were in vain. Finally, Alexander the Great came to conquer Gordion and cut the knot with his sword.
