Permet is a small town in south Albania, wellknown for its cuisine, wine and raki (traditional alcoholic drink in Albania).
The town itself does not offer any big attraction, but the sorrounding area is really beautiful.
The valley of river Vjosa, the biggest of south Albania, offer great views. The river runs along the mountain chain Trebeshine-Dhembel-Nemercke adn between Trebeshine and Dhembel, Vjosa rush through the beautiful Kelcyra gorge.
Last year I reached Permet coming from Leskovik and when mount Nemercka appeared in front of us, it was really a spectacular panorama.
I strongly advice to try what I call 'the big circle of the south', that would be Tirana-Korce-Permet-Gjirokaster-Sarande-Albanian Riviera-Tirane.
People of Permet and sorroundings are really nice and good hosts.
Most of the pictures in this page are taken in November 2003 (the region looks particularly colorful in autumn). |
