Green Landscape with white sanddunes and beaches

Ameland is about 25 km. East to West .
Between 2 - 4 km. North to South

Population: about 3.500 spread over the 4 villages Hollum, Ballum, Nes and Buren.

In the south de island is protected by a seadyk and in the north by natural whitesand seadunes

WADDENDIAMAND

Everything is interesting on this island. South: The sea on the south (waddensea), seadyk, Green flat meadows whith cows and sheeps.

Inland: dunes, forest, hills, valleys a great landscape and the 4 villages.

On the norht the seadunes and 25 km. of dunes and beaches without anny interruption and very clean.

In the middle on the picture you see the road for biking and walking
From the beginning and to his end (+/- 18 km.) it is in a good condition.

By normal wetter condition you see the mainland.
On the waddensea a lot of seabirds and vessels.

On the other side of the dike is a other road with a other view and that may bring you back home.

Pros and Cons
  • Pros:The salt wind is like a medicine ; it make you brown and healthy
  • Cons:Sand between you'r tooths and toes
  • In a nutshell:Rest, peace, safe, less crime, a beauty, great landscape
