darkness of Reds
Yeah, I know its dark, but this is the lighting in true form. The hushed atmosphere is one of DOC's best features beyond the amazing Italian Wine selection and Italian tapas selection. The darkness was broken table by table by a single candle flicker exposing the dark weathered woodwork that hovered around us. Leaning towards the center of the table to help send my whisper to Yuki's ear my hand will involuntarily grab the stem of the wine glass and chase my mouth back to my sitting up straight position. The bottles contents need great attention paid to pay respects to the years of knowledge in every sip. The neighborhoody feel gains its strength with the freindliness of owners and staff. My favorite Wine Bar, by a steep margin.
Directions: Take L train to Bedford ave. Walk west on N7th street to the corner of Wythe and 7th

I have been tidying up my bar discoveries lately and stumbled into this establishment to see what kind of punch there menu packed. I was floored, (not cause of alcohol) by their selection of imports and domestic micro-brewery selection. Every country that makes or tries to make a beer, it ends up on Mugs' menu. Theres a backyard area for those who order a little food to go with those delicious brews. The interior is that old pub style where the focus lyes on the drink to be had.
Dress Code: They got Dunkles from Germany, thats the dark .05 liters,
Go to their attached website and look at their menu, its aweinspiring.

If you are in the market for a bar with an easy to talk scene come to Greenpoint. Pencil Factory plays there music at an easy to talk over level lights are dim and there is a ton of brewskis on tap. There are little pizzas and paninis made on location as well. This place was a social club back in the 50s. Eberhand Pencil Factory was across the street many years ago. Lokk caddycornered from the bar and you can still see the pencils buit into the architecture. The interior is all formulated aroun dark wood (mahogany and Teak). Absolute beauty.
