Deep in this thick cranium Rothenburg already had its place prior to the Audi's front tires passing through the fortification walls. The librarian in grade school showed me illustrations in fables that resembled all that was around me. The drive into town couldn't have felt more magical as the winding Romantische Strasse shimmied alongside the Tauber river. Meadows and hillsides sprayed in thick clumps of green with a transept of water moseying by. Before spotting the town of Rothenburg crowning a hilltop, Yuki and I stopped riverside for a photo op with the grazing sheep. We stared from the oppisite riverbank watching woolballs yank grass and sediment tumble by carried across on trickling waters. Silence and bird chirps minus car tires and motors. |

| | The cobblestone shook a rythm throughout the vehicle once within the fortifications. Here we were stretched across the Brothers Grimm pages. The dark ages are summed up in these streets. I understood what DARK AGES means more here in one minute than I did for a whole semester of ART HISTORY focused on this time period. The crumbling walls, tight alleyways, creeping vines, and bellowing of church bells brought a factual face to the images I dreamt up studying ILLUSTRATED MANUSCRIPTS. Within these fortifications my mind easily fell into another era. |
| | Taste and aesthetics plays a major part in these walls. Details were never over-done. Yukijohn delved right in, getting a sense of the town with all five senses. This is another strong clarification that Germany was the right place for a vacay.TO FOLLOW THE GERMANY ROMANTIQUE STRASSE TRIP CHRONOLOGICALLY CLICK HERE |

As a child a sip would make me sleep. Daddy would let me take a sip of his red wine and the taste made me shout "I want more, one glass" This will be overturned to my mothers dismay. |
