Beguinage - Bruges - Brugge

Beguinage - Bruges

Beguinage Beguinage - Begijnhof Review

The Beguinage in Brues at its prettiest. In April I was told the daffodils are in full bloom. But even if you happen to miss this period of unique display of colour, the Beguinage is an enchanting place to visit all year round.

The Beguinage can be visited free of charge! A small museum is housed by the entrance, for which admission must be paid.

The Basilica - Bruges

Cathedral Basilica of the Holy Blood Review

This is the inside view of the Basilica of the Holy Blood. The Gothic architecture, and art work. The place is worth a visit. I couldnt get to march to the alter to touch the relic, as I was afraid to do so!

Lake of Love

Love lake- Minnewater Minnewater - Lake of Love Review

The Minneswater is a charming and romantic spot. It is widely referred to as the "Lake of Love", "Liebessee", "Lac d'Armour" etc., which is an incorrect, but more interesting translation for the tourists.

Address: Beautiful Lake / Park with White Swans.

The road opposite the fountain leads directly to St Salvator's Cathedral and on to Market Squre. On the way, you will see quite a number of shops. In the pic is a body shop where you can take care of the Royal Bodies.

Belfry

Cathedral

A belfry is a typical feature of Flemish towns that sprang up in the middle ages. It is not a church, nor is it a town hall, but a symbol of reedom and wealth. The Belfry has since become a symbol of the town.

The lower section of the Belfry in this picture, (up to the squre coner towers) dates from 13th century. The section section (up to the poited corner towers) was added in the 14th century.

The octagonal section which accomodates the carillon has crowned the Belfry since the 15th century. The Tower is 83meters high and acessible up to the carillon.
