Sienna is charming and to me a hundred times more romantic than Florence or Venice. A day is not enough to see the many places Sienna can show you, but the Cathedral and the Piazza are enough to feel the spirit of medieval Tuscany and to always treasure the moments you spent there.
At the piazza the few prominent castes of Sienna gathered to make their assemblies and to take decisions on the city's deals. Each caste had its own triangle at the square. Nowadays that's the place for the 'palladio' competitions - a race with horses. |
