Venice - VT fellows GET UP EARLY

by Kikitriky - last update: Jun 8, 2007

Why get up early?!

Venice, approached by boat from Punta Sabioni
I suppose too much is written about Venice, which is by no means... unique. I myself have been there three times, not by wish but while approaching some other place. My first visit was no good, at noon more than 20 thousand tourists rush through the tiny squares and the narrow 'streets'. I could hardly breathe. My second visit was better, I was prepared for the croud and spend some time at the Doji palace. My third visit was different... I knew a lot, I had a plan of my sight-seeng, but most of all, I got there at about 7 a.m. By that time of the day, Venice is authenthic in the best way a traveller can see it.
Piazza San Marco
It is only possible to see the piazza like this if you get there before 9 a.m. That is how I like it, that is Venice. In the later hours it is just a crouded place with a different atmosphere.
The famous clock, piazza S Marco
Recently restored, it is beautiful all time of the day, ha-ha!
