Nightlife Spot: Dozens of bars
There are basicly two really nice bar areas in the former east Berlin. One of the areas is between U-Bahn stations Hackescher Markt and Oranienburger Tor. In Hackescher Markt there are couple of bars, for example a pretty good irish bar (although you don't want to come to Berlin for an Irish bar;). Walk from there along the Oranienburgerstrasse and you will find a lot of nice little bars. My favourite is just in the end of Oranienburgerstrasse (near the Oranienburger Tor). I don't remember the name of the place, but it is decorated with black & white pictures of old Berlin, and very cozy feeling. It is usually full of locals, spending their time with each other and drinking good, cheap beer.

Nightlife Spot: several bars
There are two excellent bar areas in the former east Berlin. One of them is Prenzlauer Berg, which contains many local, small bars. First take U2 train to Eberswalder Strasse. From there walk to Schliemannstrasse, where you can find a really strange small bar, where dogs are walking freely inside the bar. I think the place is called Cafe Schliemann. Expect to find cheep beer and friendly service. Next go to Knaackstrasse, where you can find several nice bars. Also in Kollwitzstrasse there are really nice spots. In the corner of Schönhauser Allee and Kollwitzstrasse there is open air bar, where you can find a lot of locals spending their evening. Remember to return your bottles to the bartender, you will get some money back... In the other side of the open area is bar called Scotch and Sofa, which is really cozy place favoured by locals.

Tresor nightclub: Raves in gestapo prison

Nightlife Spot: Tresor nightclub
This nightclub consists of outdoor area, big dance floor upstairs and hell in the downstairs: there you can find old gestapo prison, where one of the cells has one wall full of loud-speekers. The noise is about 180Db, even the ear plugs won't help you at all. The temperature is about 60C and everybody is either taking ecstasy or raving like nuts. Next morning you can only here beeping inside your head because of the noise. Sick place, but great experience after all.

Columbiahalle / Messehalle Berlin: Techno megaraves

Nightlife Spot: Columbiahalle / Messehalle Berlin
In the Love Parade weekend there are many megaraves also inside large halls. For example in Columbiahalle and messehalle Berlin. Last year there very huge techno parties also in airports. Expect to see lots of people, best DJs in the world, a lot of dancing, etc.. Raves continue normally in the early next morning. This is where all the young people go, and, sometimes even a bit older people.:)
