Something for everyone...San Diego

So much to do, so little time

San Diego Skyline
San Diego is one big playground for the kids in all of us. The beaches are outstanding, from the up coast beaches of La Jolla down the street to Pacific Beach, Mission Beach, then Mission Bay with "Sea World", then over to Ocean Beach (surfing) and Point Loma (surfing sunset cliffs). Don't forget to see the old Point Loma Lighthouse (Cabrillo National Monument).Coming back down the hill you have the Shelter Island area, with pleasure boats and restaurants.

Motoring into downtown via Rosecrans Blvd. is Old Town, with the history of old San Diego with Mexican heritage food and activities. Swing on by the Bay, see the famous "Star of India" sailing vessel, you can tour the craft. If your lucky, a cruise ship or two may be in the harbor for you to dream about a cruise you one day may take. Many Naval ships can be seen from here and to the left of the road is Little Italy and Downtown San Diego with the world famous Zoo. Many museums in the Zoo area, Balboa Park.

Further down the road is the Gaslamp District, with the restaurants, bars, jazz clubs, and shopping with a new major league baseball park, Petco, to boot. On the right is the beautiful Coronado Bay Bridge, that takes you to the island of the same name and to the famous Hotel Coronado del Mar. The beach here runs for miles along the silver strand. You certainly can be beached out in San Diego, but you get your monies worth of memories.

Pros:"Just a wonderful town with something for everyone"
Cons:"The airport landing pattern takes it low over the city"
In A Nutshell:"Fun in the sun and nighttime too, perfect."

I'm coming to Michigan for the summer and IF I can manage, I will visit my son in San Francisco...so, maybe a road trip South as well? My son also loves to cook chili and is somewhat of an amateur chef.:):)
