YAHOO! THAR'S GOLD IN THEM THAR HILLS

Skagway, was the port of entry for the Gold Rush of 1897. Many a soul, greedy for gold in the Canadian Yukon area of Dawson, came through Skagway, on the way to the Chilkoot or White Pass Trail. Today, Skagway is a reminder of the way it way, with many tourist attractions to fill your stay.

Pros and Cons
  • Pros:Lot's of tourist attractions to fill a day or two
  • Cons:Not enough time to see all that there is.
  • In a nutshell:Skagway is still a golden city, with tourists

Thanks for good info. My sister is headed to Skagway and your nice write up with super pix confirmed her decision to 'take the train.'

Great page, the train ride sounds fantastic, but I loved the hotel room story of room 23 ;-)

I could do the caboose cabin in a heart beat. The train is coming, and I'd be out there with my thumb out, hitching a ride into town. ~
