Sorrento sits on the Bay of Naples and the sight of the city from the road coming from Naples is spectacular. Cliffside villas, the port, and the lemon trees in the distance make an inviting beacon for the tourist. The center of town is the Piazza Tasso with many smaller streets off the main artery road. Via San Cesareo is the street of shops for the tourist with many items to choose from, including Sorrento's famous products: Inlaid wood (Marquetry) and Limoncello (lemon liquor) to have that keepsake of Sorrento, well, maybe not the Limoncello. Hard to keep something that tastes so good and goes down so well. The port area is the taking off spot by Ferry to the Island of Capri and the Amalfi Coast towns of Positano and Amalfi. |
