THE PRIDE OF SICILY

TAORMINA STAYS IN YOUR MIND, FOREVER

A TURN HERE AND A LOOK THERE
On an Island, beyond the sea, in the hills, Taormina waits for thee. One of Sicily's and Italy's most alluring towns keeps calling to me. I have visited this outpost of sanity several times and when it is time to leave, I want to return. The tranquil beauty of the hills and the sea below, while walking the paved roads of the town, brings a quiet chill of contentment, not found in many places of the world.

Oh, I know, many tourist visit, too many, you could say, but a turn here and a look there and you are alone with the caress of a Sicilian breeze. My maternal grandparents were from Italy and my grandmother was born in Sicily. We even have a mountain named after my grandfather's, grandfather, Mount Barbaro.

Sicily and Taormina are a part of my heart, and I shall carry it with me always. Messina is the birthplace of my grandmother and a beautiful port city, but when in Sicily, you must find the time to visit the storybook town, Taormina, in the hills below Mt. Etna.

Larry - Please add name of great, great grandfather's mountain - (Ok if you don't remember - just make one up!) So happy to see that name - Barbaro - the real deal! I will look for that mountain one day. <(•¿•)>

Hi Larry :) I have recently returned from my trip to Sicily and can understand your infinite love for this beautiful island. Taormina was my favourite town as well, besides Cefalu! You are right, no visit of Sicily is completed without having a cannoli :)
