I visited a friend in Hamburg for a couple of days earlier this year. It's a very clean city and largely modern. I got a good deal at the Holiday Inn, which was a bit further out of town than I thought. I like to walk everywhere if I can! |
| The bells, the bells....... |
|  | We climbed the tower of Hamburg's landmark church ....... (largely reconstructed, with rather scary open-tread metal stairs!). Excellent views from the top, however, and the bells and clock mechanism were interesting. Worth overcoming your vertigo! |
| | And these are the bombed-out remains of a church, which is now a war memorial. Rather like Coventry cathedral, I suppose. |
