"Beautiful Bled..............." a Bled Travel Page by leics

......is beautiful. Especially in April, when it's not as crowded as (I suspect) it becomes in the season.

The lake was formed by a glacier (it is fed now by only a few springs), and nestles at the base of some proper snow-capped mountains (ok, so my experience of suchlike has been limited...but I thought they were pretty). I suspect there are plenty of good walks starting from Bled proper, none of which I had time to explore (this time).

We wandered from the car park round one side of the lake; trees just bursting their buds, tiny flowers appearing everywhere (both primroses and violets werew not-quite-the-same as those in the UK), mallards on the water (just like the UK, though quacking in Slovenian, obviously) and the air very clean and sharp.

Just very beautiful, really............a longer visit would have allowed time to explore the castle (dating from 1004) and the church-on-the-island. But it was pleasant enough (whilst still adjusting and slightly under-the-weather) to stuff oneself silly with cream cake, then pretend to walk it off along the lake shore...........
