Restaurant Name: Ta Peter

On main street in Mellieha, has a bar with seating and a restaurant upstairs. Run by a very pleasant couple. A wide variety of dishes available,including Maltese, Italian, English (if you must). Fish dishes a speciality, I think; catch of the day is displayed for your choice as you enter the upstairs restaurant.

A good local choice with a friendly atmosphere.

Favorite Dish: Fresh fish cooked well and expertly filleted at your table. Most impressive (I had the black bream).

Restaurant Name: Ta Randi

Further down the hill towards the church. More restaurant than bar, though it has a TV (sport, I think).

Maltese, Italian, English dishes. Very good pizza, the proper thin-based type. Friendly service and large portions (though Mellieha was nearly empty whilst we were there, so I suspect the staff were grateful for the light relief of customers). Non-smoking inside, like everywhere in Malta, but with a few tables outside where smokers can sit (amid traffic fumes and noise).

It looks better than the photo might suggest when it's open!

Restaurant Name: Giuseppe's

Very pleasant restaurant halfway up Mellieha main street. Small, intimate, seemed to be busy most nights (a good sign: the customers included many Maltese). Variety of dishes, including a huge number of specials which were rattled off by our waitress (no written list, which was made choosing difficult). Fish and meat dishes, local and Italian cuisine. Bread & herbed butter served whilst food was being prepared, as in Italy.Good portions, well-presented. Sensible wine list.

A bit pricier than most of the other eating places locally, but good for a special meal. I suspect you'd have to book in the season, if the number of customers out of season is anything to go by.
