..........and follow the road round the coast from Ballyvaghan (try not to follow a coach). If it's even a bit windy (and it probably will be) there are wonderful, desolate, enormous-wave-crashing views for several miles.

If you don't turn right, you'll pass Newtown castle as you leave Ballyvaghan. You can't go in, but it's quite a remarkable piece of architecture.

Cons:Not so much fun if you are stuck behind a bus or lorry
