"Weekend trips to St. Martin" Saint Martin by Fate3000

The first time I went to St. Martin was a weekend get away in Ocotober 2000. It was so easy from where I was living on St. Kitts-just $50 and 30 minutes and I was there.
The hotels in Phillipsburg were pretty cheap and the beaches were very nice with the customary clear water. The weather was unbeatable and everyone was very friendly, even on the French side of the island.

The second trip to the island just happened to be on the weekend of the Heineken Regatta. We partied pretty hard in Marigot Friday night, then in Phillipsburg Saturday night. while partying at the Heineken party in Phillipsburg, we ran into the owners of the Balahoo restuarant on St. Kitts. They just happened to have a boat in the race the next day and invited us to sail with them around the island. Since our flight wasn't until 6pm, we agreed, went to bed at 4am, got up at 6 and met them at the dock to start a great day and finish off a great weekend!

• Pros:Great beaches, clear water, gorgeous weather, real shopping and restaurants
• Cons:Very dry island, not as lush as most other caribbean islands
• In a nutshell:This is a must see party island.
