Ahlat is about 40 km north-east from Tatvan along the shores of Lake Van. It is a town of 34 800 inhabitants, where there is quite a lot to see.
The kümbets, for instance, are triangle shaped mausoleums from the13th century. In Ahlat, there is a twin one (Cifte Kümbet) and a Seljuk graveyard with more than thousands gravestones.
