A present for my daughter The story began in march 2004 when Adria Airways, the Airline in Slovenia announced discount prices for flights to London. I wanted to make a surprise trip to London for my daughter. She will be 9 in August and I thought that this would be a very nice present for her. So the decision was made - we will go after the last school day and stay 7 days. I didn't want to tell her about the trip before ending second grade because only London would be on her mind all the time. But how should I tell her ? It's boring if I say 'We're going to London next Monday.' . So I prepared 6 pieces of paper on which 6 clues were written and she had to guess what the surprise was. After every clue there was an instruction where the next paper was. The first one was : the surprise can not be touched. She stared at me and had no idea. But she guessed at fifth clue. She couldn't believe it. But when she was certain that I wasn't making fool of her she was very happy. |
| | The flight to Gatwick The hour of departure was set to 7.25 a.m. We got up at 5.30 to be at the airport on time. But first shock came just when we entered the terminal. It was written - next info about departure at 9.30. I went to the representative and they said that the plane had technical problems. Grrrrrrr..........We waited and waited .... when at 9.am. they announced that we would go to Frankfurt and then proceed to Heatrow. Better than waiting the whole day. We hurried to the representative. But just when I wanted to give the tickets to the representative he said the plane was full. Grrrrr..... again. Luckily God thought about us and they announced that on 10.30 we would go direct to Gatwick. Oh, what a relief. Sara was already impatient ...
We came to house 3 hours late and nobody opened the door . We rang ang rang and fortunately we woke up one of the guests and he opened the door. Finally .
I was preparing for this trip for a long time and the list what to see was very long.Unfortunately we didn't managed to see all what was on the list but on the other side this was good.We have a good reason to come back. |
There is so much to see in London and surroundings that it is very hard to choose what to see. At last the priorities were :London Zoo, Kew Gardens, Hampton Court, London Eye, The Tower,Greenwich,Trafalgar Square, Buckigham Palace and Hyde Park,Natural History Museum,Big Ben and Houses of Parliament. The visits had to be suitable for my 8-year-old daughter. I left the musems and galleries for times when she will be older. | | | London Opera House - Coliseum |
